I thought I would do a series of features on kids fashion. In particular clothes for boys.
Our son Jacob, who is 6 years old, is very independent, and insists on getting himself dressed everyday.
He has now started to take an interest in the clothes he wears.
I find it very different to our daughter Amber, who is now a teen and has only taken an interest in clothes in the last couple of years.
I found it much harder to pick outfits for my son, there seems to be so much choice for girls.
In the last few years, I think shops are offering much more choice of clothes for boys and there are some great clothing lines out there.
And you can buy outfits without breaking the bank. Which is a bonus as kids grow out of clothes so quick! Anything that can save pennies in my purse is great with me.
With spring just around the corner, off with the big chunky hats, gloves, scarves and coats, and on with the t-shirts and light-weight jackets. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Jacob loves this outfit from Matalan. Giving kids a choice in what they would like to wear, allows their confidence to grow.
Choices, choices - In this 3-pack of t-shirts, Jacob decided on the terracotta and cream stripy one. He said 'Do I look French wearing this?'
The other two t-shirts in the 3-pack are cream with a blue aztec print and green marl. Costing £8 (age 7) for three t-shirts means these ever growing kids can look stylish for not very much money.
Matalan have a great choice of kids clothes. We know children grow out of their clothes at a super speedy rate. So it helps when kitting them out that you can find cheap trendy outfits.
Jacob put together this look with black skinny jeans, terracotta red and cream striped t-shirt, this very snazzy bomber jacket and black lace-up trainers.
Every time I say to Jacob 'Don't forget your coat'. He tells me 'Mummy it's not a coat, it's a bomber jacket.' I think this little jacket is his favourite. He wants to wear it everyday.
As you can see from the picture above, the skinny jeans still allow Jacob to jump up and down and climb without any restriction.
The skinny jeans are a black washed effect and have an adjustable waist which is good because they last longer.
Look at these fab black lace-up trainers. We've had a major breakthrough since these trainers arrived. Jacob has learned how to tie his shoes laces. Yay! I've always avoided laces but after practising with these, bring on the lace-ups.
